  Message from the President:

FGDLA Members: I thought I would just provide a few comments on our organization and future events that may interest you. Initially I would like to mention the FGDLA Board had a face-to-face meeting in March to discuss the organization's standard agenda items and to develop a "Call to Action" document. This document will assist us in our actions as we continue to move forward in sharing innovative teaching methodologies and integrating instructional technologies to meet the education and training needs of the Federal Government. We, the Board also felt it was important to arrange a FGDLA General Membership meeting. This meeting will be an audio conference to collaborate on current distance learning issues and upcoming events.

We've scheduled our General Membership meeting for June 28th, 2012 at 2:00 pm EDT. I hope you can participate. The call-in number will be sent to our members by e-mail. The meeting will address a variety of distance learning topics plus the introductions of our two new Board Members (Vice President Government and Vice President Higher Education). Another upcoming major event is our FGDLA Annual Conference scheduled for August 16th, 2012 in Reston, Virginia in conjunction with the Society for Applied Learning Technology Interactive Learning Technologies Conference and Exposition. This is a great event with an excellent learning track with dynamic presenters. You do not want to miss this learning and networking opportunity. Along with our learning track, we will present our annual winners at the FGDLA Awards and Reception that evening.

Lastly, I want to express the importance of everyone in the FGDLA to feel a part of the organization and to get involved in any way you can. We have a number of initiatives and committees that could use your collaboration and expertise. I believe in synergy and comradeship because I am confident that working in unison will yield greater results. Our success depends on your participation.
